Read more of the storyA work of surprising poetry, the MAWJA ceiling light has an equally delightful name—‘Mawja’, which means ‘wave’ in Arabic. It is the charming handwoven waves that define this piece. As it pierces the weave, the light appears to undulate, casting enchanting shadows that create a soothing atmosphere …
Handcrafted in a small secluded village in Morocco, five women, each specialists in this particularly meticulous and laborious hand-weaving technique, work to create this ceiling light.
Following a pattern, they carefully weave the raffia around the structure, a process that takes more than one day. As each MAWJA is unique and crafted from natural materials, slight variations in colour may occur.
