Read more of the storyThe work of a master artisan, the PRINCESSE À TANGER divan is a piece that you will want to keep always and forever. Rustic and original, it creates the perfect counterpoint to modern pieces in holiday homes and city apartments alike. Crafted from arbutus wood from the gardens of Umberto Pasti in Morocco, it is a rare collector’s item.
The piece derives its singularity from the manner in which it was designed—that is, according to the branches of the trees themselves. The wood is sourced from the hills of Rohuna and sawn by hand to respect the local flora. Each piece is unique, without trying to change it, the tree and its particularities are allowed to inform the design, resulting in an exceptional rendering in which nature expresses itself in all its glory. In each piece, the artisanal meets the artistic in a meticulous work of art: a single divan alone is the result of five days’ patient work. Not to mention the upstream work, where each branch is selected, dried for four months, sanded by hand with sandpaper and fashioned with a knife, before being assembled and joined with the others using nails and screws to create a remarkable whole.
Should you wish to use your PRINCESSE À TANGER as outdoor furniture, simply apply oil to protect it. It was especially designed to pair with Caravane’s iconic Princesse divan mattresses.
