When fulfilling its primary purpose as a cutting board, the ALJAW is absolutely ideal. But with its unique grain and exceptional wood, you will soon find yourself using this remarkable piece to serve dishes at Aperitivo hour or a selection of cheese at the end of the meal …
Crafted from walnut wood, sourced from the high plateaus of the Moroccan Atlas, a seemingly basic kitchen utensil disguises a piece of exceptionally skilled work. A close look reveals the beauty of the smooth surface, which was sanded, sculpted and finished by hand. Perfectly sized, the JALAW was designed to be both practical and beautiful. The delicate bulrush tie allows the JALAW to be easily displayed on the wall of your kitchen.
Made in the medina of Marrakech, each piece is crafted from sustainably-sourced walnut wood. Like the cedar tree, the walnut tree is protected—a logging quota has been set to preserve the forests of the Atlas. The Moroccan carpenters must place their orders well in advance to ensure they can obtain the wood they need to craft these pieces, making the JALAW cutting boards all the more rare and exceptional.Close story

To protect the walnut wood, our products have not been treated. While stains may appear upon use, these only add to the charm of these living pieces. If you do not wish the appearance of your piece to change, we suggest you coat it with olive oil or coconut oil before use. We also recommend that you hand wash your JALAW boards with water.
