Read more of the storyOriginal and colourful, Ajrak cushion covers are treasures of craftsmanship: the fabric is first prepared and then hand block printed with traditional Indian motifs before being dyed. The two motifs are very different yet perfectly complementary: poetic flowers and graphic triangles.
What makes this fabric so special is the vegetable dyes used: the red and orange are obtained from madder root, the brown from rhubarb root, the blue from indigo and the yellow from pomegranate. You can mix and match them, or use them to liven up a more classic plain. Because Ajrak fabric is made from natural dyes, it's a living material whose colours evolve and develop a patina over time.
The cushion cover is finished with four little twirling tassels.
Ajrak is made in India.
